Each year the regatta and participants aim to try and contribute
back to the island in the best way possible.
Whilst there tends to be a sport/yachting bias we are also open to
other causes.
In the past we have covered the costs of hospital fees for one of
our sailing volunteers children, we have raised money for a Sports
Scholarship at Bluewater School on the island and now we sponsor
one of the youth sailors, Garfield, pictured below.
As well as this we work with Bluewater School to do a big beach clean up
every year.
Youth Sailing Fund
The young sailor we are sponsoring is, Nattakarn Panyawan
(Garfield). Garfield’s Dad is a captain on boats in Samui and her
Uncle Saard represented Thailand in Two Olympics and numerous ASEA
& SEA games, taking Gold in Windsurfing. He is also a
regular supporter of the regatta.

School Grade: Bor 4 (Grade 4), Golden Mountain Temple School,
Maenam.
Height: 1.37m
Experience:
Garfield started sailing in Sept 2009 as a beginner and has
advanced very well. Her first regatta was at the Admirals cup in
January 2010 and she received best beginner prize. She is very
committed and enjoys participating in the sailing.
So far in 2010 she has participated in:
Top of the Gulf, Koh Samui & Hua Hin
